increasing kh?

need to increase kh from 0- about 3-4 as I use co2 and want less flucuations

I've used bicarb soda without ever any issues....unsure if there's any negatives and/or a different compound that would be better.

hmm can you link the exact brand you used?

Doesn't matter what brand. Just get it from Coles or Woolies in the baking/flour section.

Don't know if it's practical telling you what dosage.

It will be unique to your tank volume.

Premix 1 teaspoon of bi card in a cup of tank water, and slowly drip over a few hours/days. Test KH every couple of hours until you reach your target.

Just checked, it's McKenzie....common supermarket brand.....as Jayc mentioned , I just put a pinch every now and then, and/or more if I reallly want to boost my KH. Then test after a few days and get a routine going. Only use it for 1 tank, so no idea for suggested dosage etc..

I'm just wondering for my tank ph is 7.8 atm with kh about 0-1, when I add co2 it goes down to 6.8

If I increase kh to 3-4 how much decrease in ph will I see with the same amount of co2?

Yep, exactly the one..... And as Jayc mentioned.....each tank is unique, so a little at a time, and keep testing. I know with my 24lt, I do a pinch of bicarb each week, to keep the KH between 4-5.

That's the brand I use as well.

Oh yeah, keep track of your pH as well, since bicarbonate will raise pH.
