DIY cutting glass question

What do you guys think if I purchase the Hole saw glass cutter on ebay and cut? I remember there is a thread of Dean but it gone....cant find

for cutting glass? Because I ask at the shop, they said it's expensive :(. It cost $30 for a piece of 34 x 40 cm :cower:

Are you needing holes in the glass or are you needing a rectangular panel?

If its holes then buy whatever size hole saw you need and drill away :)

If its a rectangle then you will need an oil-filled cutter and a pair of snapping pliers make life easy.

There are also pliers which have a curve in them to allow an easy snap, I prefer these to the ones above as I feel I have more control over the pressure and the speed the glass snaps.

You can get away without the pliers and just snap the glass over a piece of dowel but the pliers make life A LOT easier if you have a bunch of glass to cut.

Thx. I just want to make a hole for my divider glass. I remember Dean showed the tut how to drill a hole on glass but I cant find where is it. :dejection:

Holes are easy to drill, I drilled thirty on the weekend :encouragement: just need to take it slow & easy & make sure you have something like timber or styrofoam under the glass so you don't blow the back out. Good luck with it dude :encouragement:

It also helps if you get some inox or metho in the hole you are drilling makes life easier. Use putty or blue tack to make a bowl to keep it in. Also drill only half way then flip and repeat. Worked for me during my glazing apprenticeship.

Yeah a lubricant is definitely needed but you can only use water with shrimp tanks or the residues will kill your shrimp being so fragile. The pool is also necessary too, to help clear the glass dust & keeps everything cool. I just have a hose dribbling on to the drill bit & that works a treat :encouragement:

Ya. I saw some vid on youtube. Since the glazer they are not drill the hole so I think I have to buy one and do it myself :">. Thanks for the tut Dean
