New shrimp tank/sump thingy

Thought I'd share a tank that I'm in the process of setting up..

Its 4ftx15x18, divided in 2 with stainless mesh and has a chamber on the left that will house K1 media and a pump to take water back to the right hand side...

Still not sure what shrimp to put in it ;) I think I may have some black cherry in the works for one side.. But what to put in the other?

I love this tank dude, I'd put CRS or CBS in the other side, or something that won't cross breed, in case shrimplets manage to get through the mesh. :encouragement:

I did worry about them getting through and cross breeding at first but I figure I'll be able to catch them before their big enough to breed.. But now I'm thinking if they can get through the pump will be a bigger issue ;) I'm also not using the one in the vid as it just moves way too much water, I have a smaller one that only moves about half as much.

Is that a tiny, little, non-descript quantity of duck weed that I can see on the surface of the bottom tank?

Maybe you could run the pump off the top of a fine sponge filter? :confused:

Yep it is duckweed, the tank below is the same dimensions but not divided.. It's my yellow cherry tank. The duckweed I put there to grow for my Ranchu's (I have tubs and ponds and use most tanks as I can't grow as much as they eat) but the shrimp love to hang upside down from it.. I figure it eats up some toxins as a bonus also :)
