Hi! I just bought some Bloody Mary shrimp two weeks ago for a new 10 gallon tank! I hope to learn a lot about aquascaping and shrimping!

Oh wow, the shrimps will love it in that tank! Great photo! How many shrimps do you have in there? Love the variety of plants etc.

Thank you so much! It's my first tank. I have ten shrimp that I bought from a local fish store. They claim they're bloody Mary, but I suspect they are lower grade. They're also all female somehow, so I guess ten is all I'll have. LOL

You were very unlucky to get all one sex if you got 10, though if you can get hold of a male you should get an explosion in numbers so worth keeping an eye out for a male, you only need 1 after all! The ones at the front look like bloody mary to me but as you say some may be lower grade? They look very settled and healthy if you only got them a few weeks ago!

I have maybe three that have the racing stripe, and two which are not very pigmented. By Flip Aquatic definition, they have the red flesh and transparent outer shell. I just find that some are more pink or transparent than red

Welcome Linty. Your tank looks great!

My guess is that in grading these, they kept a high female ratio as they have the most pigment usually. But these aren't too young and if one was even bred the day you got them, could become berried in time. And that 3rd shrimp from bottom looks *possibly* male to me, but wouldn't bet my paycheck on it. In fact, your lighter ones are the highest probability to be males. Give them some time, hard to buy 10 adults and get all unbred females. I bet you see berries soon.

I seem to see a saddle on the lighter ones, but I guess time will tell. Thank you so much!
