Testing a new Forum Index Page, what do you think?

Recommended Posts

Cesar

Hey Keepers,

Made a change today to the landing page for the forum index, here is the short story... Noticed the latest activity page was very popular and our mobile app also uses a similar latest activity listing, so I updated the SKF page to show the latest activity over the traditional forum category listings... You can see the change here...

https://skfaquatics.com/forum

Depending on your feedback and posting increase/decrease, we will either keep it or return back to the old forum index.

To dig a little deeper, the old page seemed a bit dated. With so many posts received on a daily basis here on SKF, it often felt like nothing was going on, when in fact, there are posts that go unseen and unanswered because they are buried and hard to find. Changing the front page to show the latest stream/activity of the forum enables us to quickly check what new posts and replies have been posted without having to dig around.

SKF is growing really fast, and I want to make sure we are providing the best experience for shrimp keepers possible while creating the greatest online shrimp keeping resource. In that spirit, we will continue to make a test new stuff, for now let's keep it simple and start with one page... Let me know what you think...

Thanks!

I was pulling my hair out wondering why it was doing that.

LOL... Hopefully, it works better than the old page, let me know what you think...

I can spruce it up in time, figured I would keep it simple for now and test it out, get some feedback...

I enjoyed going to "unread content" so that it grouped all the posts together under one thread, rather than showing every single post that has been made.

A work around is just using the Shrimp Keepers Stream and changing the type of content it shows.

It's been about a month now with the new forum index page showing a stream rather than the traditional forum category layout...

So what do you think? Should we keep it or go back to the old style?

I have noticed an up trend in conversation and posting since moving to the new timeline version...

Looking to hear back from you, let me know your thoughts, love it? hate it? other?

Thanks!

I had my shortcut to go to where it now defaults automatically. It makes more sense for regular users to see what has happened since the last visit etc.

Have you tested the parameters of the water? There isn't much we can help with without those basic figures? Usually tap water works with neocaridina shrimp but your water may be too hard! If there were DOA then the others may also be sick or weakened so some may die soon after they are put in to the tank. When you get a shrimp deivery you should drip acclimate them over as many hours as possible. Were they delayed in transit do you think which caused the doa? Simon

The tank is cycled. It’s been set up for a month now and I’ve been dosing some bacter ae every day to create biofilm. I tested for ammonia and nitrites and they were 0 before adding the shrimp. Nitrates were 10. I only had snails in the tank before the shrimp so that’s why there isn’t a bunch of gunk. I thought Neocaridina shrimp needed harder water? I had 5 D.O.A. so maybe it still is having affects from that.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/383203322241 Here you go @Crabby didn't realise there was a timer but you have 44 minutes!   I decided to go with it cause it was the cheapest I found and figured I could use it for my new 15 gallon!    Thank you for the tips but yes I am going to try removing the stones and see how my tap water goes first, whilst I wait for my ro unit and get used to using it for my 15 gallon.

thx for your reply... JAYC, yes.. I want to seek your comment what should I do to start my fancy tiger project...but I am a bit confuse.. so what should I do after I got F1 from crs x oebt? should I just keep breeding f1 x f1 = f2 ... so on.. or do I need to breed back to crs or crs parents to get more solid white and red to get f2?
