Tigerbee-Taiwan Bee hybrids

Hi all,

I am waiting for my next shrimp shipment to arrive hopefully tomorrow. These are Tigerbee x Taiwan Bee hybrids, phenotype CB/CR shrimp - but with different genes. They look like this. It's a great honor for me to get them from Shrimp Shady, as a lot of people want to have his stock. If you are interested in his breeding philosophy and photos, please check this out (is it okay to post this link, admin?)

I will keep you updated, thanks for reading,

Just has a read as well. Some very useful insight into maintenance schedules and the lack of shrimp specific substrate. Not to mention some amazing shrimp pictures.

Thank you for sharing.

The new arrivals have now settle a bit and are exploring their new tank. Although they looks like Bee shrimp in phenotype, they more behave like Tigers. Those of you working with hybrids that the next generation can look completely different than from what I have now - so cross your fingers the females get berried soon!

Nice looking shrimps...

Hope to see some nice hybrid offspring soon...

Has been thinking if I should try crossing tiger with my PRL culls... But that would means more tanks needed.. Omg...

I now have tiny baby shrimp - all looking different! I am off for a week, and will try to make some macro shots when I have returned. Hopefully, all will survive - but with leaves and plants, it should be okay.

Actually' date=' I got the hybrid shrimp from ShrimpShady, a German breeder who crossed regular Taiwan Bee with both Tiger and Bee shrimp. Plese check his photos on my blog: [url']http://shrimpsider.wordpress.com/2012/04/18/shrimp-shady-garnelenzuechter-breeder/ He gave me a couple he did not want to keep. I have taken some photos yesterday, so here are the pictures! :)

Well, the black shrimplet now develops white stripes and looks like an extreme KK. besides, I have a white shrimplet, looking like wanting to turn into like a Bolt or Blue Head. I will give them a week, and then shoot them again ;)

Time for another photo session today, unfortunately the two black shrimplets had no fun participating....

Here is one from two white shrimplets:

One interesting thing he mentioned was "Bacteria pressure", which I guess just means number of bacteria around.  Yet I see all these other videos from shrimpkeepers bragging about how much bacteria their filtering system holds. Also interesting is no mention of using anti-biotics to treat bacterial infection.  I think that has fallen out of favor recently.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.
