love the way this tank is looking as it fills in mate,

Q. how do you decide the front and back as its an island tank???

Thanks again guys.

substrate is redsea flora base Apollo, which from what i read a long time ago comes from the same place as the ADA Malaya "but" not 100% sure if that's true ?

i did originally start it off to have like an island Dean so as to view it from 3 sides, but it's since become more of a back and front tank now lol.

the back now looks pretty ordinary as it's filling in with Vallis and crypt Balansae now, but not to worry, still can see the shrimps from both sides,

just the front is clear now for feeding only.

here's some feeding shots as requested :

  • 3 months later...

other pics went missing so here's another update as of tonight.

background plants are growing in nicely, wasn't sure if the Balansae would grow well in the low light but it's growing crazy well :)

got rid of the 4 sponge filters i had in there as i got sick of cleaning them every two weeks.

added a eheim 2217 canister instead. now even less maintenance ;)

shrimps are breeding like crazy atm too, got tinny shrimps every where.

wide angle lens shot :

50mm lens shot "not enough room to get straight on shot"

Looks grrrrrrreat mate .... Congrats. Keep an eye on the Anubias since I read that they might be toxic to shrimp I took all out of my shrimp tanks, but I think they are only toxic if they have compromised surfaces.

Again, great looking tank. Always liked tanks being viewed from both sides....after seeing your tank, I think we need a shrimp tank photo comp.....

Cheers for the feedback guys.

never had any problems with anubias and shrimps E, always had it in my shrimp tanks and even broken/cut bits too over the years.

don't believe all you read ;) i have read the same around the traps too, but didn't take too much notice.

i don't really do the whole forums comp things anymore Blue, i find most of them are more of a popularity contest...

havn't been posting much lately as been buisy with other stuff

so just a quick update as i hadn't taken any tank pics for a while.

not too much growth because of the very low light, but has filled out a bit.

and also added some anubias to the right hand side.

still no ferts used other than a few seachem root tabs under the tri clolour lotus and Balansae.

CRS still breeding well and added 10 x yellow cherries.
