Hair Grass Carpet

Featured Replies

Just wondering what is the best way to start a hair grass carpet, dry start or fully submerged?

Think I might try to establish a hair grass carpet in a 10l tank, something to keep me busy seeing I don't have much else to do these days.

I know to separate the grass into small strands/clumps and plant, probably won't trim the tops until I have roots established and possible melt has passed.

Cheers.

It depends who you talk to but some say trimming them promotes growth? I was going to dry start my little tank but I got bored so flooded it haha I'll be updating it regularly so you can see how my tank goes.

Dry start will be much easier and quicker, no need for CO2 without water, no algae issues, can leave lights on for 12+ hours. Only equipment you need is the tank, a light (or with a little 10L tank you could just take it outside and use the sun), some glad wrap and maybe a hygrometer to check the humidity in the tank.

Yeah didn't want to trim until I established roots, that way when trimming it would be harder to pull the plantlet out when cutting.

Might look into doing a natural outdoors DSM, good thinking JacksonL, cheers.
