What are K14 CRS

can someone please tell me what the K14 CRS actually are. I know they are sometimes called smiley face because of their pattern but are they a special line or just a pattern? I see them mentioned more often now but other than German sites that need translating I can't find much about them.

They are CRS ...bred mostly for their head patterns

It's purely a pattern grade, just looks like a smiley on the back of their carapace. :thumbsu:

Ooo I think I might have one! I will have to have a closer look at it. It's only small but looked different from my other SSS . It's very white white too for a youngster. Looks similar to those ones. That will help improve my CRS colony. I don't know where it came from though - it was in a mixed Tibee, Mischling and CBS tank so who knows what it is. I love that mongrel tank I keep getting surprises in it! Not much good for keeping the bloodlines and colours true but very very interesting!

hehe smileyshrimp i want some !!

:D

The K14s that won Best in Show at the championships earlier this year are stunning creatures with really solid white and the best of them with just a smiley pattern. The photo above are probably the same stock.

Correct!

They are called mosura SSS grade at Japan ten years ago.

I think the term originated in Germany !

Yes pretty sure the K numbers are European

The k grading scale comes from germany.

In the rest of europe it would be a sss.

I wouldnt call them smiley or ssss as there is too much red, it looks more like a cranky smile !

Even though i have some smileys i would rather have the red bee in the picture, they are much better quality.

its all shrimp to me !

They look like sss flower heads to me

These are some close ups of mine ;(

Very nice Inverted,

Looks like you are on the way again.

Kinda funny that most people in Germany don't like them anymore. Don't know why, but they are not popular.

Also as far as I know, the smiley is the 'end station' according to patterns. I believe you cannot create other patterns from a Smiley group. When talking about smiley K14, this is what I have in mind:Mosura-Crown-Red-Bee-K14-Grade-SSS-DNZ_b

I find it funny that we start off having beautiful red and white (or black and white) striped shrimp and then slowly breed the red out to have an almost white shrimp. Give me a nicely marked crisp red and white candy stripe any day! AND yet I'm culling my CBS and putting the SSS into a tank to breed together -go figure!

I agree ineke.  A really top quality A grade beats them all IMO.
