A book about FNQ aquatic critters

Featured Replies

Howdy All

Something I have given thought to for a while, it may never happen,

A book on North Queensland Aquatic critters, more so unknown fish and inverts.

The main reason is, so few know what is up here and there is a stack of miss info out there

So my question is

What would you Guys and Girls like to see in it ????

Bob

Interesting thought.....I think there is so many species up there you could write several! Maybe a full book of ....shrimp. One of snails. One of fish. And one of plants.

All I know is I'd buy them

Edited by inverted

I'll second that. It would be great to have a reference for the types of native plants and mosses that aren't seen in the hobby yet, and native snails. Fish and shrimp are of course a given. :)

Need all ideas and man you guys are making work, the plants may be if I can get one of the boffins on side

It has been talked about with a mate of mine who has done a book on brackish fish or the Australian part at least.

Fish there is lots so that could be a book on its own and inverts combined, the trouble with inverts is, there is always new ones turning up, shrimp, crayfish, crabs and snails

Suggestions  please!!! photos I know for sure, so a good camera first

Keep an eye on the thread I will get some photos from a mate that will blow you mind and as the crow flys its about 4km from my place

Bob asked me to post this as it wasn't working out for him. These are cling gobies, Stiphodon species I think.

Just another one of the virtually unknown treasures from our far north.

They're gorgeous! I'd be interested in those when I have more tank space. :)

They're a magnificent group of fish. I love gobies and gudgeons and these are probably the best of them. Unfortunately they're very rare and I don't know that they have ever been bred in captivity.

There is 4 or 5 species of the up here and they are all protected, not so rare in the right places and creeks.

I have had views of 30+ in my field of vision and when the male dances to his mob of females it is a sight to be seen.

A place that you always see 3 of the species and a safe place to put on a mask and jump in is Emmagon creek Cape Tribulation, google the creek and have a look
