Moss Grow Tank

Featured Replies

I have set up a small 25l tank for cultivating mosses only. I have no substrate, a small led light, and a foam filter in it. It has only been set up for a week now

Should I keep a couple of small fish in it for any reasons?

Cheers

i would keep cull/shrimp in it to help control algae.

Hi Pete

Do you think a native variety of shrimp would be ok?, I was thinking originally of using a catfish of some kind as they are not likely to rip the moss apart

Whatever I put in it's job is to keep algae and bits of moss offcuts under control

Any shrimp will be good for algae control, so long as you don't feed them to much or they wont work as hard, they will supply a small amount of CO2 for the moss to, with just a few shrimp I would not even run the filter, there will be enough gas exchange for the shrimp.

I have a few static tanks with shrimp and plant in and they do fine, natural light to but shaded.
