  • I took some a few pictures of my CRS today.  Below are the 3 that turned out the best.  IMO the shrimp look quite a bit nicer than when I originally got them (see original post pics).   I haven't se

Is "Border Security" still showing on TV? OMG....

If you are looking at viewing high-end shrimp in HK, it will depending on two factors:

  1. High-end shrimp are import on order. If you are lucky that someone ordered high-end shrimp and arrives just before you come to HK, then you may able to see it.
  2. Shrimp shop in HK hates tourist. You can't blame them, it is because of many locals and tourists treat them like a zoo to view their stuffs. If you bought a lot of products from them, then they may bring you into their "secret" room.

As JayC has said, as long as they aren't directly competing with SKF's local sponsors, then its fine.

Thanks for the clarification. :)

Usually, I am very careful with this as a lot of shops do overseas shipping (even Aquarist Chamber and Green Concept do it). Hence, I will try not to post any shop URL publicly to creates contention. :D

Thanks Shrimp Daddy, i might buy one or 2 things I see, but I can understand them hating tourists eg. goldfish markets

Yep, Border security is still on.

You can't buy livestock back to Australia, but you can buy lots of aquarium accessories, equipment and food.

Food might need to be declared, as pet food. But as long as it's processed and sealed, it should be ok.

No woods though, so no driftwoods or ornaments made of wood. <edit> you probably can bring wood stuff back, but needs to be declared and quarantined etc, so more trouble than it's worth.

So you can still visit and bring a shopping list on behalf of SKF. <--- that might get you into the secret room.

Since you know goldfish street, I can direct you to a shop there. They do carry some good shrimps. If you are coming on the week of 13 Apr, you may even get to see some of the shrimp I ordered (trying new breeder again and wasting money. LOL!!! (^_^")y ).

LOL!!! I like the way you put it. :p

The secret rooms always have the best stuff. It would be well worth bringing the shopping list.

I think getting invited to see private collections and secret projects is even better lol

A shopping list it is. I usually stay over in Central but HK as you know is easy to get around.

Congratulations wot_fan....... Crs are awesome they are the ones that hooked most of us into this crazy life. And are still really my favourites always so active!...but I love all my shrimp!

All those pictured are ss grade and I spot 3 females .....although you can never be sure from 1 picture.

Look forward to updates..... Remember they are more sensitive them cherrys(rillis). So make sure you keep you parameters stable try not to fiddle too much and keep your regular wAter changes up. With shrimp daddy as your mentor you will be in safe hands.

Welcome to the CRS family wot_fan!! They look like wonderful founders for your colony.

I look forward to lots of updates on this thread. Great you have been getting great advice to start you off too!! Enjoy!

Also, Shrimpy Daddy, it would be great to have a list of good shops to visit from a first hand perspective. Don't need to list URLs, names and address would work, people can always google from there. This would be a great resource for us shrimp tourists!!!

Thanks Newbreed :).  I am very happy with my shrimp.  Even after a week, I am still impressed by them.  What I have read is true, pictures don't do CRS justice, you need to see them in person.  I can only imagine how cool a JPRL is.

As for an update, it has been a week and all 8 shrimp have settled in nicely.  I have only seen 1 molted shell but there are places in the tank I can't see.  Based on body shape, I think I have 3 maybe 4 females.  Time will tell.  I'll post more pictures as soon as I have time to take them.

Lets have a race. First to 100 crs lol

LOL, I am up for that :).  I have an unfair head start though, don't I?

To tell you the truth I would have the advantage cause I have 5 crs atm and one is berried lol.

But then again you are using Shrimp Daddy products and your crs looks a billion times better than mine. So yeah I'll say you have the advantage but its all good.

Anyways its ON!  lol

That is awesome :thumbsu:.  Congrats.  How long has she been berried for?

She has been berried for between 10-14 days. My current tank is a bit of a jungle and didn't see her for a few days and when she appeared she was berried :D

You got some good starting CRS shrimp there :)  Good that you atleast got a couple of females in there!

I was checking out my CRS today after their WC and had a very nice surprise.  One of the females is berried :D.  I haven't been spending much time tank watching in the last few days so I am not exactly sure when it happened.

Here is an iPhone pic of her.  Sorry for the low quality.

Did your babies hatch yet?

Congrats Wot_fan really happy for you man. You are really doing well. So I am thinking it wont be long until you get some tb's right? lol

Yea she did hatch just over a weeks ago. She hatched about 10 shrimplets but currently I think about 4 or 5 are still around. Unfortunately until my new tank is cycled I feel like my shrimplet survival rates will stay low. Saying that I have improved the survival rate from 0% to about 30% - 40% (if survival rate is converting eggs to juvies). I still want to improve things though.

How are you finding using the whole range of SD products?

Thanks Disciple.  As far as a TB tank goes ... I started cycling a 45cm cube a few days ago  :D.  I am using only SD products and following the all the procedures on his site.  Hopefully it will be ready for shrimp in 5-6 weeks.

I am very happy with SD products.  My shrimp look great and they are breeding.  I don't know what else I could ask for :).

Good luck with your shrimplets.  Maybe there are more hidden in the tank than you think.

Right now I am leaning towards a few BBs, KKs and Shadow Pandas.

It certainly isn't anything special I am doing (other than using your products) :D.
