20L buckets with lids are a much better option if you want to keep your car dry, and if your really serious, battery operatored aerators. Hindsights 20/20 hey?

Looks like you have got plenty of nice tanks and equipment.

how do u get the shrimp in the buckets?

Hand net, or drain the tank to a low enough level that you can tip the remaining water into the buckets from the tank.

Great new homes waiting for them!!

thanks for encouragement and also thanks for the tip from fishmosy. Im going to have to move again in 1 or 2 years so ill plan better then! I just didnt want to spend the time to catch them by hand esp. the shrimplets and I didnt trust myself to tip the tanks so I used this method instead. it was nervewracking but there was no spillage and no casualties from the move still - fingers crossed!! my only worry is if I had to break suddenly it would not be good!

all the aquariums I use are second hand btw and also so are most of my canisters and all my lighting etc.

these windows are north facing and this will be a learning experience managing the use of sunlight and artificial light to best effect for plant/moss growth. the sunlight doesn't allow for good viewing of the shrimps sadly :-(

also it will be tricky and costly managing temperatures in summer due to the fact I dont use a rack setup and could never afford chillers for all the tanks but it is only a very small skinny room to air-condition.

id like to invest in a much newer and nicer looking aquarium setup for my lounge room one day if all goes well :-)

so far the hobby for me has been a lot of fun and also a learning experience/stepping stone towards my longterm of goal of doing aquaponics -

im hoping to run a system using marron ! wonder if anyone here has grown or even bred marron before and what was their experience like??? I learnt a little about it in tafe but I couldn't complete the course due to family reasons.

id really love to get any feedback / tips / solutions about how to manage the sunlight and also how to deal with the temperature problem I will face come next spring/summer!

I've bred yabbies before. Highly cannabalistic as they grow, and intolerant of each other as adults.

One food i found that they really like is raw carrot.
