Benibachi Shrimp Breeding Liquid

Recommended Posts

Just saw that The Tech Den were selling the Benibachi Shrimp Breeding Liquid and was amazed at the reaction from the shrimp in the clip, so thought I'd grab a bottle, test it out and see the results myself.

So once I have received this, I will test this product in the tank that I have Red Cherry Shrimp, Yellow Cherry Shrimp, Crystal Red Shrimp, Chameleon Shrimp and Darwin Algae Eater Shrimp in, see how each kind react to the liquid and report back here, could well be very useful for people having hassles with breeding perhaps.

Also, be interested to see if this liquid reacts to the 3 Common Bristlenose I have in the same tank as well.

Will let you all know how it goes and share results.

Also, if this is posted in the wrong area, please feel free to move, thanks.

We had an advert here like that too, I think it was for Lynx though.

Pretty sure Perplex uses it on Saturday nights in Hindley Street.

Yeah I'm interested to see what the results are, will share how everything goes on here for sure.

Perplex has also been known to hang out at the Crazy Horse also.

Excited or stressed?

It seems not logic there could be a benefit using this product. Say it force females to molt before they are ready for it, that's not an improvement. Say it's some kind of pheromone and it just makes the males crazy, that's also not an improvement. The process form building up eggs in the female body to the moment the eggs hatch is about 2 months. The effect (whatever it may be) of this product is instantly, so I wonder what the benefit could be.

Do you know what Benibachi says about this? And do they say something about the long term effects?

I second what shrimpmaster has just said. I don't think its safe to force a female to lay its eggs premature.

i am not sure about this product myself, i only dosed at 1/4 the recomended dose, have not seen any fresh molt's and the excitement only lasted 5 min. just have to wait and see i guess.

I have personally tried this product and cant say that I was overly thrilled or got any extra benefit from it.  Yes the shrimp did start to swim around madly but I believe the same results can be achieved by doing a larger water change. This is my personal experience only and I am not rubbishing the product in anyway. But personally I wouldn't buy again. I agree with Tec Den and the others and forcibly trying to get them to breed I don't believe is a good thing. And unless things and prices have changed it wasnt that cheap either.

FYI i dosed at the recommended dosage rates.

Ditto here but with the Mosura Eros product.

I used it once upon a time, and I still have the bottle.

Yes, I saw some moulting and some berried shrimps, but would I have got the same result if I didn't use it???

What made me stop was the fact that I could not find any information on it's ingredients. Apart from chitin being an ingredient list.

After stopping its use, my shrimps kept on moulting and berrying up without artificial help.

I'm cautious adding anything into the tank when I don't know what the ingredients are.

Funny thing is Chitin (pronounced Ky-tin) is derived from the shells (exoskeleton) of other shrimp/crustaceans.

Taking a sniff of my Mosura Eros, it smells like ...  Vinegar !!?? surely not.

There might be a place and time for this product.

Like if I ever separate 1x male and 1x female specifically for line breeding. And I see the female saddled but not yet berried and carrying eggs under the swimmerettes. A more targeted use rather than randomly dosing the whole tank.

So I received the Benibachi Shrimp Breeding Liquid today in the mail, thanks The Tech Den.

Put a dose in the tank which I have Crystal Reds, Chameleons, Darwin Algae and Red and Yellow Cherries in, within say 5 seconds the activity of the Crystal Reds, Chameleons and Darwin Algaes picked up and started cruising all over the tank, the Red and Yellow Cherries didn't seem too fussed or interested, although I suddenly had a few more heads pop up of juvi shrimp that I didn't realise I had, I also put in a piece of Shrimp Crack and only the Red and Yellow Cherries were interested in eating, everything else didn't take any notice.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. It doesn't work on Neocaridina, that is, Cherry shrimps.

Only works on Caridina, as it was designed that way.
