Red and white tibee

Featured Replies

Hi all, something I've been working on is this type of tibee.

Anyone else have or working on similar?

I'm looking to get these breeding true to pattern.

Cheers mick

This is one I have -I thought it was a male but she is berried now- I have several others with a bit more white and also several black ones with the same markings. They are all just coming up to breeding size and once I'm sure of the sexes I'm going to experiment with what I breed them to.

I'm on this same project too, to get a Red white tibee.

Let me know if you have any culls you'd like to get rid of, it will certainly speed up my programme.

This female has dropped her eggs twice now, the others in her tank are holding so it's not a water issue. Her mother was always dropping her eggs too, although now she is about 18 months she is breeding well.

I really like the marble look on the red Tibees, I've got a program for these as well. :thumbsu:

Awesome, it's a really nice looking shrimp and good to see that other people have breeding programs for them.

Love that shrimp mate been doing that pattern in black and white will have to give it a go in red and white how many gen did that take you.

My red marble girl is berried again , fingers crossed she holds this time!

Black & white tibees are more common as black is a dominant gene. Red is recessive, so it's luck of the draw, and if you get one, you separate that to try to get more reds. It could take one gen to get one, or it could take dozens of generations before one pops up. Of course you could increase your chances if you buy a shrimp that is already showing red.

I'm trying to breed more red tibees - they are definitely harder to get - I saw a tiny red baby in the Tibee tank today so very happy. Hopefully a few more in there too.
