SW/GB Rilli Types

Featured Replies

I know there have been threads about these in the past but has anyone had success in line breeding this pattern consitently?

I know the last thing I need right now is another breeding program but as they age, the more I enjoy their appearance.

They are a stage my red bolt (try hard) program is going through, but thought I could separate some out?

I have 5 that are from white/golden mischling parents with Blue bolt blood. The parents were F7 but I don't know their breeding apart from having a BB father. I now have the rilli's in a tank with their sibling white/Golden's and nothing else. They are only 4 months old and have not bred yet. Will let you know what happens.

Cool. Just interested if it is a trait that's passes to next generation when crossed together??

Have had only limited numbers of the genes pass on to next gen with only 10% passing on after about 4 generations Will be a long process to secure if everyone else has the same problem.

I have been playing with this pattern too & have found there is a very small percentage as well, but it's not something I have been focusing on so maybe with a bit of attention it could be better. :thumbsu:

I have about 80% in this generation with the same rilli type markings, with varying shades of colour in the body, from clear through rich yellow.

May just let it run its course for a few generations and see.

Sounds like a plan dude! :D

Nice one Smicko!! It seems I have about 70% males so will need to isolate some soon. Are yours also from your red bolt program?

They are awesome Smicko cheers for sharing

These are formerly skelaton bees right? I have a fair few of them :)

Never heard them called skeleton bees, they originated from snow whites.

Also they are not mine, i don't keep any crystals anymore, i got sick of killing them.

These shrimp belong to daydream.

I'm fairly sure that's what their official name is. Jeff doesn't always stick to that hahahha! And I don't blame him, gets a bit silly sometimes. However it helps if we all use the same names it makes it easier, especially for those learning (for example, in Europe they were calling blue Rillis blue jelly, but that's a taiwan bee). Mine come from CBS and snow whites. I also have some with clear patches over the head, growing up now. Like a SSSS pattern but clear, hahahha.

No one on here has used the name skeleton bees.

Maybe that was a made up name overseas, like the blue jelly you mentioned.

Either way they look cool.

This would be where you got the name from, this was produced by Imke some time ago & has widely been accepted into common use. Having said that, the term "White Rili" has been used & accepted foras long if not longer on this forum, so both can be considered correct. :thumbsu:

Yeah they would be better called Skeletons. And I am always impressed by this reference chart each time I see it, Imke did such a wonderful job on it.

I mainly used the term rilli as the pattern type is familiar to many, but best keep that to the cherry realm to avoid confusion.
