I've only tried one brand - Natures Goodness Pollen granules. That one bottle has lasted me close to two years now.

No special preparation needed. If you get the bee pollen in granules form, you just drop some in straight into the tank.

Miss 4 & I are pretty stoked to see a few of the shrimplets grow into our first juvies. Now we're hanging out for the next milestone, seeing if one of them will be our first berried CRS that we've watched since she was a berry lol

Awesome news that things are on track Jen!!! That's a lot of berried mummas in there!! Good luck!

It's a great feeling when it starts to take off.

Thanks Newbreed, and I agree that it's definitely a great feeling when they start to take off.

It might look like a lot of berried girls, but there's only 3 with berrys. 1 of the girls was camera shy and I was only able to get a pic of her berried tummy & tail. The other 2 made it into more pics when I was taking photos of some of the boys & juvies. Our only other girl, that I'm 100% sure is a young female, I couldn't get any pics of as she was still in hiding having the last of her first lot of shrimplets.

Miss 4's not going to be happy soon though. She doesn't want to part with any of our CRS but I think we have way to many males. So I'm going to sell a fair few of them, when I decide who to keep, and she'll have to get over it. I'm thinking of selling the higher grade juvies as well so I can concentrate on the Candy Canes. Sarah and I think they are much prettier.

When it starts taking off is when the dilemmas begin about who stays and who goes, or who gets to live in the new rack??? :)

I have heaps of CRS bubs growing out at the moment, we may need to talk trade once you've decided on your path!!

Just glad it's all happening! Oh yeah, is the new tank set up yet??? Looks like a fine unit!

Hmmm maybe, I will have some spare room in some of the 2ft divided tanks.

I know our Mischy girls, female RR TBMM, Sqirrel my male one stripe KK TBM and Tremo my my extreme KK TB male will be split the 2 halves of 1 divided 2ft.

These guys from our Mischys. Not sure what they are maybe Tibees? Will go in one half of another divided 2ft.

In another half of a divided 2ft will be shrimp, from my Mischys as well, with similar coloring to this one, but some are closer to white and others are are almost transparent between their tale and caraprice. This juvie is the only one that came close enough for to take a pic of with the macro lens, and I got a pic of a similar one without the macro on my iPhone.

It looks I've only got 1 panda?, (so I've been told), juvie left and I haven't seen any of the shadow panda juvies in quite a while. But I'll reserve a section for the panda, just in case the Mischys have more.

Looks like I've lost all our blue KK types as well, leaving me with 3 spare sections to think about.

That sounds like it could be a great idea. I almost couldn't believe what I saw when I had time for a quick look in the CRS tanks between shopping trips last night. It looked like there'd been a shrimplet explosion in there! The pics are only of a small part of the tank and some had scattered by the time I found my phone and took the pics.post-868-0-38698700-1419362131_thumb.jpg

This is their little tank and there were lots of tiny shrimplets behind and to both sides of where the pics were taken.

The new tank is a fantastic little unit. I haven't had time to do anything other than put it together and sit it on the table next to the couch yet. I can't wait to be able to set it up fully and start cycling after Christmas.

Awesome stuff Jen, got some gorgeous looking shrimp there, well done! :thumbsu:

Wow looks like quite a population explosion nice work

Thanks guys.

I'm not sure what type of shrimp they are that have come from my mischys, but I look forward to seeing what happens when they are seperated into their own tanks and they mature and start breeding.

Our CRS tank amazes me everytime I look into into. It's so sweet to see all those tiny little shrimplets in there. I just checked to see how the girls are going and 2 young girls are carrying their first berrys, 2 of the older females are berried and 2 are developing saddles!

I'm probably doing the wrong thing, but I've started feeding small amounts of the Boss Baby Powder 2-3 times a day. Their tank has never had algae grow in it and with so many shrimplets plus the adults and juvies in such a small tank, I worry about them not getting enough to eat lol

I counted 123 CRS shrimplets today!! Everytime I look in their tank I almost have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming. I've even spent a few nights sleeping on the couch this week as I've fallen asleep while I've been watching them, lol.

Feel free to create a topic Matuva nad post your WC's and we will be sure to help you out with diagnosing problems:)

Yes sure, will do.

Thank you Matuva. This morning I noticed that we seem to have less shrimplets. The older shrimplets are a little bigger too so they must've moulted and we lost a few.

I've lost quite a few CRS since we first brought Miss 4 her/our first 10 CRS in June. I've had to add a few more along the way otherwise they'd have all died out and I didn't want to give up on them. I never thought I'd see so many shrimplets in there tank though, buts it's been a real buzz seeing it.

SKF is a fantastic forum and the members are extremely knowledgeable and very helpful when things go wrong.

I wouldn’t be to bummed if you counted 123 in there the other day even if you lost 1/5 that’s still a sheet load of shrimp left haha congrats on your success! I’m still waiting for my first crs to mature hopefully i can start counting hordes of shrimplets soon too!

  • Author

Thanks Buck.

With how bad the survival rate has been in this tank I'll be happy if 1/5 of the shrimplets survive, but hopefully more than that will this time.

Any idea whats causing the deaths?
