Something interesting is happening to my Chocs

Featured Replies

I was having a look at my chocs tonight, they are in a pretty dark tank & I can't see them very well, so I got my torche & discovered this very interesting thing that is happening to almost all of them. :thumbsu:

THIS^^

Exactly the same thing is happening to mine atm. A genetic defect or just nature taking its course? Hmmm.....

p.s. you have a lot of snails in your tank... haha

They're rusting!! Looks pretty cool though!!

I had the same thing with mine, looked more like the red was trying to push through.

Lol, yeah but I like the fact they are going blue. :D

I hope the blue pushes harder, lol. :thumbsu:

Sure hope this is nothing nasty going on.  Sure look different though!!!!!!!

hummmm VIOLET!!!!

Interesting...but I'm with Shrimp aqua and hope they are not just fading due to stress of some sort. (Yeah...call me pessimistic again! )

But on the other hand I know how well your chocs are doing so maybe they ARE blue and you just didn't notice because the tank is so dark

....until you used the torch to look at them.

Have you made any changes to your tanks Squiggs? Lighting, feeding or maintenance?

  • Author

Nope, nothing has changed. :thumbsu:

Very Pretty

A mate had the same thing and I didn't know what was going on.

I hope it's not an omen but his females died whilst they were berried.

Hopefully it's just a colour change, they are really cool looking shrimp.

Cheers mick

I'm thinking it's just a colour change, as you can see from the pics, the babies are mostly coming out blue. :thumbsu:

I have had a few like that but I also had a couple of deaths shortly after. I was worried it might be something wrong and when dead the red patch was very pronounced

Ok, I'll keep an eye on them but the WP are all fine at the moment, we'll see how they go in the next few weeks. :thumbsu:

Good luck! I'm hoping mine will be OK as it only started happening a couple of weeks before I left. I haven't added any new stock to my blood line either and thought that might have something to do with it??? They are all from my original girls that I got from Dean ,March last year.

Ineke, aren't you on holidays?

Still checking into SKF while on hols huh?

  • HOF Member

It's a static holiday. We are staying at my brothers place to look after horses , cattle , sheep, dogs, chooks and half a cat - only has 2 legs - so plenty of checking in time! Oh and guppies in the water troughs? ??? Haven't seen them yet!

Ineke RU suffering withdrawal syndrone already :notfair: , will you survive the six weeks away?

At least I have the forum! I haven't been game to ask how they are going yet but I guess I will be contacted if there is problem.:)
