Hi Guys and thanks for the welcome.

I am lucky to have 10 documented species in my area and more new ones on the way and then there is fresh water crabs.

I use to live in Brisbane and 1 species pr ck was the norm, up here there can be 4 species in the one creek WOW.

Bob

I might have to catch some shrimp from mackays creeks and send you some samples I've caught some natives from sales spot and I can cleary see at least 2 different types of glass/ native shrimp

Dr Tim Page is the man to do the genetic ID, don't know where Tim is working at the moment and the Museum at South Bank can also do some ID, Dr Peter Davies is the contact there, if he did not get the ax in the KRAP that just happened.

Most likely you will have Caridina longirostris and C. indistincta, there should be Riffle shrimp in the foot hills to the west of you and maybe the foot hills on the coast.

Bob

Hey Bob. I'm sure you remember me. :D

Those zebras you sent were great but unfortunately something changed in my tank and they disappeared. I've since redone the tank and now restocking slowly. Have you tried to breed them?

Hi Nogi,

How are you?

I have breed them in the past and was working on all white and all black ones, lost them moving house, how ever I will kick off again when we buy a house shortly and I will work on the new species as well as some others.

Bob

Hi Bob, welcome to SKF :D

Wow, it sounds like you really know your stuff! It must be really great living so close to all those native shrimp.

I'd really love to see some photos when you move house and get your new fish room all set up ;)

Hi Foxy TA for the welcome.

I really don't know why people loose them, I have some in the garage that are so neglected and they are breeding! The only thing I do is keep up the water changes 1/3 once a week and keep some leaves in with them.... I feed them a bit of flake when I remember.

Bob

Must be the water up in cairns lol. I would be keen to give a few a try once i get rid of my fish lol.
