Shrimp Rack substrate question

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I recently built a 3 tier rack for my Pinto project. I am thinking of putting a ADA africana substrate on one tier and Benibachi powder on the other 2. It will be run with a sump. My concern is it might stuff up the water parameters. What do you recon guys?

Here is the photo of the rack.

Mate, I love this rack design!! Brilliant!

My two cents worth, I would stick to the same substrate throughout if running through a sump.

This will be a journal to watch. Definitely go all the same. You won't be cursing yourself if you end up having to troubleshoot problems later.

The water going into a common sump will find equilibrium.

Wow, nice rack.....DIY ? I'd stick with the same soil/brand....easier to determine reason / solution if things go south..... I think one of the important aspect of shrimp keeping is keeping things simple, and avoid any possible complications or uncertainty

+1 to everyone, continuity is definitely a good thing, especially when troubleshooting. :thumbsu:

+1 to everyone's comments

But can I just add that you have made yourself one seriously gorgeous rack!
