The GH and KH usually come in one kit. The only other one that gets mentioned is Calcium test kit.

The freshwater testkit can sometimes have issues reading a low PH, just a heads up. For that you often need to go digital.

API sell the GH and KH testers together, the GH kit is part 1 of the testers you'll need for working out your cal:mag ratio.
The other kit you'll need is a calcium test kit, the Salifert brand calcium tester from what I've read seems to be the best (only one I've used so I cant really comment)

Definitely Salifert Nitrate kit, it's the only testkit on the market that can measure down to 0.2ppm, I got mine fro m AoA. :thumbsu:

Hmmm bugger i cant afford a digital ph tester atm so that can go on the wanted list.

With the salifert nitrate test kit would the R/O water have 0 nitrates? I am a bit confused lol

It should be zero. :thumbsu:

Another update.

Just ordered my Gh, KH and Calcium test kit from Age of aquariums. My TDS pen has arrived from america so once i get my test kits i will be draining my tank putting what shrimp i have left in a bucket and refilling with R/O Water.

Also planning come tax time to buy the biggest Eheim UV Sterilizer up to 800 litres so i can use it now but still be prepared for when i get a rack setup in about 2 years (no joke) lol
