Thank you for accepting me to the forum :) I have been interested in Shrimp for quite a while, but finally have my first lot arriving hopefully Wednesday. Cant wait, but a bit apprehensive at the same time. Might be on here quite a bit asking silly questions. hopefully it all goes smoothly and my new babies like their new home.

Welcome Lozza, be sure to ask many questions. Hope you enjoy the forum as much as we do!

I am used to fishkeeping, but Shrimp seems a whole new ball game. looking forward to something totally different

Be warned, they are totally addictive characters! Be ready to want a few tanks of them!

Most important is water stability, don't over feed and small water changes.

All the best, which type are you starting with?

If you can, be sure to post pics of your new setup too!

I think they are called blue gene red rilli?

this is my 12 x 12 inch cube tank

Nice little tank and welcome to the forum, just be careful of multiple tank syndrome it's very catchy around here.

Cheers mick

Welcome to the forum Loraine, they are blue gene red rilis, or as we have nicknamed them "Spider-Man shrimp". Definitely ask lots of questions cause we don't believe in silly questions here. Hope you have as much fun here as we do! :D

Welcome to the forum Lorraine :)

thanks :D my first question is, do I need a lid on my tank. can they climb out? would hate to have them climbing all over my benches. :newhere:

A lot of people don't have lids but they definitely can climb out & I've lost some very nice shrimp in the past to this problem. :D

hmmm might need to get a lid for it then. I do have a couple of old picture frames I can steal the glass from. might need to put something round the edge of the photo frame glass though as it is a bit sharp. lucky I asked then.

You can just use a bit of wet/dry sand paper to take the sharp edge off the glass, just be careful to move diagonally across the edge, not just straight along it. :D

Welcome Lozza and good luck with your little family of spidermen :D

Welcooommmmmmeeee Lozza! :D

:roadrage: my spidermen should arrive by Wednesday. :lolu:

thanks for the great welcome. I feel a bit loved
