Sweet potato

Featured Replies

I fed cooked sweet potato, and this is what happened to my blue shrimp ...

how long will this last? I hope it will return to it's former colour soon.

Yeah, it will pass. One of mine showed a strange green colour after a certain food, it changed back after it goes through their system though.

Just wondering ...

Newbreed, what food did you feed your shrimp that it turned colour?

Would it be something that was high in sugar?

yeswaitnosorry,

what sort of sweet potato did you feed? The american variety, with orange flesh?

Or the purple skinned yellow flesh variety? (which is actually more a yam).

Note: that american orange flesh variety is high is sugar. 6.5g per 100g.

Potatoes have 1.2g. Yams have 0.5g. Grapes have 15.5g of sugar.

To be honest, I cant recall the brand, it was a while ago.

orange flesh - (I have always called it a kumara, could be wrong though?)

Kumara is just the New Zealand/Maori name for it.
