As most of you know I lost my colony of beautiful Chocolate Cherries last year and was quite devastated. I luckily had some culls in my display tank and started to rebuild my colony. I'm slowly getting there but I am culling heavily to get the quality back. Unfortunately I'm not as lucky with the Blues -I have a few but nothing like the colour I had managed to breed but time works wonders and I will continue to selctively breed the Blues to hopefully get that colour back. img]<img src=p><p><img src=

some of the old colony<a href=%7Boption%7Dhttp://i1293.photobucket.com/albums/b583/ineke24/2013-11-25091200_zpsf7451688.jpg' alt='2013-11-25091200_zpsf7451688.jpg'>

Sweet shrimp Ineke & stunning pics' date=' well done! :encouragement:[/quote']Thanks Squiggs I'm very happy to have a few really nice Chocolates again . I only have 10 I am really happy with but then I only originally started with 8 so it won't take too long to get my numbers up. Just need to keep culling heavily to keep the quality there. My only concern is do I need to bring a bit of fresh blood into the colony - not sure about that. Thanks yes it is awful loosing a colony and worse when you know it was your fault. Never mind it is done and the shrimp I'm using now are from the same colony so the quality genes are there and I have learnt a big lesson so hopefully it won't happen again.Damn BB that's a shame. Mine are F8 now and still throw Blue and lower grades . I try to keep tab on which females throw the Blues but as you can see in the top photo my Chocolates are blue base so doubt I can breed that out. Would you class what I'm calling Chocolate - Blacks? I do have a couple of nice Milk Chocolate females but most are the colours shown in the picture.

Ineke, I must have missed this, don't know where my head was at! Sorry mate, I lost my choc colony too but my blues are in another tank and are now starting to breed, may be able to help you rebuild your colony in another month or so with some blues?! Good to see the cull tank has been a great backup system, will get one setup myself this weekend!

Thanks Jamie I didn't say much about the loss at the time only to a couple of people. All good now I have a tank of culls that looked blue in the cull tank and have put them together in a cherry tank. They are not as nice in the higher ph but I have hopes that they will give me some blues to be able to work with. Thank you for the offer and if I really can't get mine going I may ask for a couple but part of the fun is breeding your own and the surprises you get as they mature. :)
