I think another rack is on the cards:encouragement:

So nice! Always loved discus

Beautiful new family members there. Great selection Tor, they are stunning.

Good work getting an odd number two, this will help them find a pecking order.

Welcome to the wonderful world of discus. :encouragement:

Thank you all, I'm rather attached to them :)

Bob, I got them from Living Reef Aquariums in Palm Beach. The owner really knows his stuff and helped me prepare for them and has provided ongoing advice. Worth paying that little but extra for guaranteed healthy fish and unlimited ongoing support :encouragement:

Oh I didn't know that, I just got 5 as it was the max I could have for my tank volume! :)

I'm already planning an upgrade to a monster tank so I can have loads lol

I had to double check the first image.

I originally thought it was one eruption swimming next to a reflective surface, but the two of them swimming almost identically, gorgeous.

Yeah the little ones hang out with the other one of the same colour, it's really funny :encouragement:

So are those ones eruptions? I forgot the names of the colours lol still trying to learn!

They look awesome Tor, are they pairs of pigeon bloods & snake skins? Nice even patterns on the snake skins, good score :victorious:

I love discus... I wish I still had my discus... I swapped them for shrimp..

  • Author

Definitely don't think they're pigeon bloods. The big one is a web faced turquoise, she's my show pony! The red ones are alenquer reds maybe? And the little spottys are eruptions or snakeskins? I think the guy said they could grow up to be either? I'm not sure :encouragement:

Very cool stuff Tor :encouragement:

Very nice discus, do you have a full tank shot ?

How much maintenance do discus need on there tanks ?

  • Author

Trying to upload a tank shot for you but its being slow :( if i cant do it tonight, ill put one up in the morning :)

These guys get a 50% water change once a week and I suck up all their left over food once a day or more depending on what ive fed them and how messy they'd been :) A lot of people water change more frequently, but the guys i got them from did it weekly too and they seem to cope fine!

This is how they do a water change in the Discus farms in Thailand, pretty interesting :encouragement:

Oh and I just found out the little spottys are leopard snakeskins and apparently very nice ones :encouragement;
