New Glass Planaria Trap

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Seems that planaria is one of the most spoken about pest problems when it comes to shrimp tanks.

I recently did a review on a product for "Aquotix online" of there product " Internal Parasite Clear" that works an absolute treat

on both planaria and Hydra.

But have had many people also ask me about alternate methods of catching the planaria without chemicals.

So i have tested another planaria removal product for you all.

This Glass planaria trap is a pretty cool little thing to have in the arsenal against them.

I put some food into the trap and placed it in the tank with planaria. (best food is some meaty based fish food pellets)

Within 35-45 minutes i had all the results i needed to be satisfied with how well this product worked.

The difference between this type and another on the market is that is actually has 2 inlets which i think is a much better

idea as the smell of the food can actually circulate in the tube attracting the planaria.

So this is what it looks like

These great products can be purchased from myself and also Aquakitz (forum sponsor)

Awesome review Dean, look pretty snazzy, anything that fancy has to work well, lol :encouragement: Great work!

I have the one with a single inlet and it doesn't work, :(

What are you using for bait, Dean?

update, so after 24hrs in the tank you can see just how affective these newly designed planaria traps work.

All the white things are dead planaria.

@ninja, i also used the single inlet ones with bad results but these new double inlet ones work well as you can see from the pics.

the best bait is a meat based fish food pellet.

Wow, thats incredible! I have one of the little plastic ones from Aquakitz, but i never caught any with it. I may have been using the wrong bait though...

i also tried the plastic ones and got nothing also. :)

The plastic one didnt sit very well on the substrate I found. This one looks great though :)

I had the same results with the plastic ones.

Wasn't just me then :)

I had zero captures with the plastic ones too.

Wow Dean, that's an amazing result, very cool :victorious:

Can you tell me the exact "meat based fish food pellet" you used?

I'm having trouble finding the right bait as well, i prefer this method over any chemical method
