API Nitra Zorb

Featured Replies

Just procrastinating and doing a bit of online shopping... :)

Came accross API Nitra Zorb and wondering if anyone uses it? It looks like it would be a good "safety blanket" to have in a filter as it claims to remove ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Does it work and is it even neccessary?

Nitrazorb is one of my must have/fav products....have used it for several years, and always have one in my "shrimps 1st Aid kit".LOL..... Great for emergencies, works quick and efficiently.:encouragement:

Only for emergencies? Not all the time then?

Im going to get some, it's not too expensive too :)

Well, theoritically your tank should be cycled and well balanced, with over filtration etc .... so products like nitrazorb etc shouldn't be required. But with over feeding, decaying shrimp (under driftwood/unseen...) causing any sudden spikes, products like nitrazorb will remedy/rescue the situation.

Yes my tank is cycled and over filtered, I just thought that having this in my sump would be added protection against ammonia etc because i don't test everyday. I worry that something might go wrong and i might not know about it until it's too late.

Im going to get some anyway, even if just for emergencies:)

Yes, prevention is always better then the cure.... I think having a product like nitrazorb constantly in the tank, doesn't allow the tank to mature and develop into a "strong" system, as the nitrazorb will "absorb" the nasties too much, without the filter having the opportunity to cater for it ?

Good point, but if the filter is already mature i'm thinking there can't be any harm in using it?

Just did a quick google and it seems that some people have been using it in their fish tanks to effectively remove nitrate...
