Japan NAG Glass Pots

Featured Replies

So you may be asking, what is a NAG POT?

These are Aqua Plant Cultivation Glass Pots. I was lucky enough to purchase a few from Aquakitz to try out today and am quite happy with the build quality.

They are used to create another level to cultivate sensitive plant species in the aquarium. I have put mine towards the back of the aquarium.

They may be used to grow a variety of rare plants in your shrimp tank.

There are several advantages:

1. Enables weak plants to recover by giving them access to more light higher up.

2. Creates more space in the aquarium

3. Looks nice / stylish in a way

4. Helps organise plants better

5. Enables experimentation using different types of soils

6. Keeps the soil in one spot so is good for using in soil root tabs and other forms of fertilization without it getting everywhere

Disadvantages:

1. As it is glass it is prone to breaking just like the CO2 diffusers.

2. Algae magnets

3. Increases clutter in the aquarium

Thanks for the write up Emboli. I previously had a vision to grow all my Erio's individually on a glass pot, but that dream got severely interrupted by the shrimp hobby. LOL

They would also be great to keep individual moss types.......

Great product....

How prone to breaking are these NAGS? Obviously don't drop them on the floor, but once in the aquarium are the okay with fish like large rainbowfish that may bump into them?

Are they held in place by a suction cup or magnets?

I've thought about getting one of these to keep my Aussimo ball in so it doesn't roll away somewhere and get lost.... I believe it's held in place with a suction cup.... Are they decent suction cups?

I bought 2 from Aquakitz and definitely recommend them, once I get my shrimp rack built later this year I'll be buying more for sure.

I am glad that you guys like it as much as I do :)

Fishmosy: It's held by 2 suction cups at the back so it stick pretty well.

Thanks Kitz. How fragile are they? For example, can they handle a rainbowfish running into them without cracking/breaking the glass?

To be honest, I'm not sure because I've never kept rainbow fish before :sorrow:

I would say it would be pretty hard for any size of rainbows to knock it off the glass or breaking the glass pot imo.

To give you a better idea of the glass thickness(2mm):

Looks like it should be pretty solid. Thanks again Kitz

  • 1 month later...

yeah NAG glass is quite thick.. had other thin glass products before but NAG are solid. i have big rainbows n i never considered them being able to break something that thick.
