Air pump recommendations

Featured Replies

I've been jumping around generic air pumps and most of them have stopped working after a while. I have a few air driven filters hooked up to multiple air pumps. Now I want to consolidate all air pumps to have just one good one. I need one has about 15 outlets.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks!

I have a Hailea V20 running 15-25 sponge filters.

Have had it running now for over 6 months and haven't had a problem with it.

15W and 20L/min. I have it running on a board with sponges between the board and the shelf and I cant hear it over the bubbles.

You should be able to pick one up for <$80 inc shipping.

That sounds perfect for me. What kind of splitter did you use?

Thanks for your help :)

I have plumbed it up to 19mm black irrigation pipe then just used the little threaded barbed fittings for the airline.

lol, I was just about to post a link to my air system thread & as I was reading i saw you've already done it, thanks foshmosy :encouragement:

The Bigger the Main line you use the easier it is on your pump and it acts like a compressor tank. With the easier on you pump= pump lasting longer because it don't work so hard.

I usually use 40mm pipe, but I usually run 40+ tanks

@ blindfisherman... Have you checked the wattage actually used on your V20? I have 3x V45's and they use 15W but say 30W.

Great little units and I chose to use 3x 45's as the overall watts vs lpm calculated to be best vs larger units in the range.

I don't have the equipment to test unfortunately.

It wouldn't surprise me though. I would expect that the rated wattage would be pumping full volume at full pressure. I have a bleed valve to prevent the pressure build up so its only working just as hard as it needs to.

They are just so quiet compared to some of the ones I have seen running.

hailea and resun worked well for me.

Looks a lot like mine, should do the trick & then some :encouragement:

That last one is very loud.

I had a resun 60lph pump that was noisy from the word go.It lasted 3 years then irrepairably shook to bits internally and i could not get spare parts for it other than the diaphragm set that i had sent to china for before i had taken it apart. I replaced it with a hailea 60lph version which while much quieter has just packed up after only 18 months.I have yet to take it apart and am hoping its only the diaphragm(maybe the new resun diaphragm could fit it ?).

I rang a company i found on google called Goodies, they deal with air pumps for septic tanks and i was enquiring about the TECHNO TAKATSUKI HIBLOW xp80. The guy i got on the phone was extremely helpful and knew pumps inside out.He recomended the TECHNO TAKATSUKI HIBLOW hp60 which i bought and 6 months in i am very happy with. The bubblers in my fish room are louder than the pump pumping them for a change and so far so good. The service from Goodies was great and the pump must have caught the 1st flight from Queensland to Vic to have arrived so promptly! :-) the guy also offered spare diaphragm kit which is great,Google should find them if your interested,i won't post their address in case its breaking an advertising rule :encouragement:
