Alternative for aquarium salt?

Featured Replies

Hello everybody, i recently spotted some of my shrimps being infested by Vorticella and after doing my research i found that a salt bath would cure them. The problem is that all of the LFS in my area don't carry any aquarium salt which is odd when i think of it, but an employee in one of the LFS told me that rock salt would be a viable alternative to aquarium salt. I googled up if this is true and found 2 sites stating that any non-iodized salt would do ok. Is any non-iodized salt safe for use or not?

Thats an interesting question! I would try it with one shrimp and see how it goes. You will need hot water to get it to dissolve I imagine, then let it cool?

I will be interested to hear how it goes if you do try it!
