Weird Alien Shrimp

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have discovered one or two of these ‘little green shrimp’ to appear in my aquarium. Perhaps they somehow hitched a ride on a plant or something. They are tiny very fast little zippy rolly Polly things with kind of a C-shape to them always seeming to be digging around.

Anybody have any idea what they are called? They’ve been around a few months but no population explosion. Should I be concerned in any way.

Just an idea - maybe scuds?

They are water louse, I get them whenever I get daphnia from the pond etc and once they got into a tank, I guess from leaves I took from the pond (stopped doing that)!

They are harmless and usually a sign of good water, but I think them a bit creepy so fished them out.

Yes, it’s a scud! I google imaged it.

Thanks for helping me figure it out.
