Diseased shrimp?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

this is my first post,i have 100l aquarium with fishes and 4 Amano shrimps inside. They are more than 1 year old. Yesterday i noticed something wrong with one of them, since the situation didn't changed in 24 hours i decided to take some photos and ask question here. Anybody has an idea what this could be? His front is red and i don`t see his claws/pincers at all.

Thanks for help,

Milos

To be honest it just looks like he’s eating something, considering the lines of bright red fecal matter through his body. I would say it’s exactly that if not for the fact that you said nothing changed in 24 hours. That’s a little odd, so keep an eye on him, but otherwise I’m sure he’s just eating something.

That shrimp has grabbed onto a piece of food and is nibbling on it.  Amano shrimp tend to do that.

Great clear photos!

I agree, he looks like he is holding some food very closely so you can't see the pincers!
