Darn, I have a parasite

Featured Replies

Hello folks,

So I have a tank that only has Taiwan Bee shrimp for about a month now.  I haven't noticed any parasites until just yesterday when I watched a shrimp molt.  It is a small white worm, maybe 1-2mm long that wriggles around and attaches to the nose of the shrimp.  But it can also easily detach and land on a nearby part.  Is it scutariella or leeches?

I guess normally the shrimp can just brush it off, since I haven't noticed it on any other shrimp this whole time, ever.  But only when molting does the shrimp just ignore it for more important things.

Should I try to do a whole tank treatment, or just ignore the issue for now, since I don't see it anymore?

It looks like scutariella, but I can't tell from the videos if they easily detach and re-attach.

Generally I dont find them harmful so I leave them be.
