CRS Tank Log

Very nice tank set up, lush and green!

The ember tetras look great in it as well. It is good to hear it is all going well and maybe the shrimp are slowing breeding as it is winter where you are so don't panic, hopefully the berried shrimp will give you a few shrimplets to watch soon!

Since I last posted I think every female shrimp has carried eggs and produced babies?

What a turn around in breeding activity. You'd think someone had spoken to the shrimp and told them to get busy as it seemed to happen overnight. Other shrimpkeepers I've spoken to have reported similar.

The Mini M is full of shrimplets and everyone seems happy. I'll post some photos later on.

In other news, I changed up my 30C. Since I feel confident in growing plants reasonably well now, I wanted to try my hand at creating a nice scape. Let me know what you think.

Did the cube photo reappear?

I'm keen to take the plunge into Taiwan Bees. Just deciding what i want to keep, then setup another tank. Any thoughts?

The cube photo isn't visible as per JayC posted but the other photos of the CRS are!

All the Taiwan bee have the same requirements so you can put off the decision on what to go for at this stage and just get the tank ready and settled!

There are 2 routes really you can go. Pick one type ie Red Ruby and just get ALL that one type and concentrate on the quality of that one type. Or, as I did, mix them all together and just leave them to do their thing and you should then get a vast array of colours and patterns as I did, you can see photos of those in the gallery (I thought but can't see them so attach one below?) - you won't get any boring ones in the way you do when you mix neocaridinas and it is quite exciting when you get a new colour/pattern one appear?

I do love a mixed TB tank ? Like a bag of lollies. Great pics Simon.

In saying that, my personality lends itself to order, so I'd probably prefer to pick one variation and dedicate a tank to that.

Now to sneak another tank into the house..

Another reason to not make the decision too early, is that you know that whatever you decide you want now, won't be available when you are ready - the law according to sod! Better to just look when you are ready and see whats available! Best to buy from a professional breeder if you want just one type as they should breed the same, mine were from ebay anyway so I didn't know what genes they were carrying and hence the variety of offspring I suspect.

Could overpopulation be a factor that prevents breeding?

I'm not sure whether shrimp would stop breeding because of overpopulation, but any environment can only support a finite number of creatures though, I do believe that, so most of the babies would be likely to die off I expect!
