Shrimp eggs

Featured Replies

Hi, so my cherry shrimp only seems to be carrying 4 eggs, would there be any reason as to why it’s carrying such a small amount of eggs?

thanks

That's a great photo!

I imagine it may have dropped any other eggs for some (there are many) reason. Did you ever see it with more eggs than that? The shrimp looks healthy enough though from what I see, so hopefully you may get a bigger batch next time.

Thankyou :) No I never saw it with anymore eggs. This is the first time it’s had eggs aswell. Fingers crossed for more next time ??

And fingers crossed these 4 hatch and survive as well!

Sometime if the tank conditions aren't right, they will carry less eggs.

Hi katie!
From what i read and if remembered correctly, older mummies do carry lesser eggs.
Personally for me, i noticed my yellow neos starting out with alot of eggs in the belly, but im not sure, they birth the babies at different timings?? (Bit by bit)
As i have a small tank, it is very easy to observe the birthing after they release the babies, im pretty sure the same berried females did not drop the eggs, they birth them at different batches. This could be why yours only seem to have so few at this moment?
Dont worry and just keep parameters stable.
Hope all works out well for you.
Jo
