Has any body else seen?

I saw a post for blue glass shrimp on a certain online fish selling site and wondered if anyone else had seen them or even purchased them? I was pretty certain the only time glass shrimp go red or blue is stress induced. And when I looked at the supplied photo the shrimp appears white bodied under the blue. Is my suspicion on the health of the shrimp correct?

Thoughts?

Hi
I been wondering the same about the blue "paratya" from an online store. I can semi confirm the red ones just need to find the orbital spine on them. I also have black that seem to go from red to black at will. I find it amazing if they are paratya and not escapees that we have such brightly coloured critters down in our stupid vic cold waters.
Cheers

Im guessing some creeks around Vic could stay cool enough in summer for even the fussiest of crystal and tiger shrimp to survive. Of course there is always the possibility that there is a local chameleon type species to be found down that way. Not enough is known about our natives, nor bred commercially enough with dedicated colour morphs being stabalised.

I have recently been altering my TDS and GH to get them to where I wanted to be on my recently set up tank. It was GH3.5-4 TDS 150, it is now GH4.5 and TDS 160 and the colours are so much better, blue especially, see photo. As JayC says check water parameters and maybe VERY gradually increase GH/TDS (by a one  TDS per day at most, is what I did and had no dead shrimp) if it is at the lower end of the recommended parameters. I am a not an expert/professional though! I increased the TDS by adding 1 drop of remineraliser each time (with the remineraliser I use it increases TDS about 25/litre/drop (GH+1/litre/drop), and my tank has 28 litres of water in it. I saw this nice blue one today, not seen one like this in my tank before. Picture very low quality as it is such a small one at the moment, hope it survives?

Very easy to fill. No funnel needed. The hole is as show in the picture, the black patch is the hole, yes.  That bottle is 4 Litres.

Shrimp can loose colour if the water parameters are not right. You should test all your water parameters now and make sure that they are suited to the shrimp type. The pictured shrimp is a Taiwan bee, so make sure the pH, KH, GH, TDS and Temp are close to their requirements.
