I'm thinking of getting Prawns

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of getting a prawn to keep and not eat. I found one in the store and it was a coy little fish. Now i am good at catching prawns but i don't know the first thing about taking care of them. Please help the Prawnstar master a prawn.

G'day @Elijah the Prawnstar

Before you start on you shrimp keep journey i would suggest a lot of reading. Shrimp are not that hard to keep but are a step above beginners aquarium keeping.

One of the best bits of advice i could give to you is find out what your local water parameters are and target a type of shrimp that prefers that type of water. Trying to change your water to suit the shrimp is way harder and prone to more problems than changing the shrimp to suit the water.

Also keep the tank away from your speakers. Shrimp do better with a little bit less bass, more of a rhythm and blues type of fish..Lol
