Thanks skfadmin,

I'm new to shrimps, having recently purchased some NC. I can tell the red cherries and the orange NC but still trying to decide how to tell the difference between blue diamond vs blue dream.

I am a collector of rare livebearer fish and I decided to try shrimp and in the past few weeks I am really drawn to this side of the hobby. Looking forward to learning more from the forum experts.?

Welcome to the forum, I am off to work but will get back to you asap :)

Hi@alexmtl blue dreams are typically much less dark than blue diamond although not always.

Another thing to look for is if the shrimp are all blue except for a small patch of black (carbon) on the tail or head. Blue dream offspring will sometimes show this trait.

Do you have any pix to share?

Thanks @revolutionhope . That was a good tip. I will look for the black on the tail or head. I can get some pictures but the shrimp are still juvenile and may not show their full coloration. I'll post shortly. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome. Good luck! I also forgot to mention that if they are blue diamonds and they breed then you will be 99% certain to get chocolate and/or black shrimplets mixed in a large % with any offspring. Blue diamond are not a readily stable line of cherry shrimp.

Looking forward to the pix. I love blue shrimp..

Here is one of the Blue (whatever), hope this gives you a better idea of what kind of Blue it might be. Looks like a scrape on the outer shell and I hope it goes after the next moult. I think this is a lady.

Here is another Blue, looking straight on. The Blue is fairly heavy on the carapace with no transparency until the abdomen.

Another of the juveniles. Small and hard to focus upon, and was moving fast.

Those look more likely to be blue diamond than blue dreams.
