Snail eggs

Featured Replies

Hello,

I was revamping a driftwood yesterday evening and found some eggs clusters under the leaves of my anubias.

Those plants were given to me.

I have so cleand the leaves as much as I can, and quarantined the plants.

How long should I have to wait to see any potential ramshorns hatching from an egg I could have left?

2 weeks? maybe less for you since the eggs are already laid for a number of days.

baby snails are difficult to spot. So you would have to look hard.

OK, I will install the driftwood in a bare container and watch closely. May be I will even treat with Genchem no planaria. Double dosing with no planaria kills ramshorns almost well.

You could try using a diluted bleach dip to kill the eggs off if you want snail free driftwood & anubias - anubias can handle a good bleach dip & it'll also kill off any black beard algae that seems to love anubias slow growing habit :)

I forgot about bleach. Any idea of whet the dilution should be?

Sorry I missed your request for the ration to dilute 1:20 is the standard.
Make sure you buy the super cheap plain regular bleach it hasn't got detergents or fragrances added. Don't buy expensive brands because they'll have lemon fragrance & make loads of suds. Apparently you can use pool chlorine but at 79c for 2L of no frills bleach it's easier to grab it from the supermarket :)

Good luck with the cleaning
