Blue Crayfish constantly hiding

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I recently got a blue crayfish (called as asian blue lobster in Petco) and I love it so far. However, it is constantly under a cave and never gets out. I thought it could be because its stressed, but it has been 5 days since I got it and still the same. He eats the wafers I give him (bringing them in the cave), and he molded once after I got him. Is there anything I should check in the water parameters that might affect him, or is it normal for crayfish to be shy and hiding all the time?

Thanks!

Crayfish are generally nocturnal, I thought. So your's might be out and about at night.

Try turning off your aquarium lights.

Recently he started going out more! And yes, he doesn't really like the lights. Also, he gets really scared if someone is around. When I enter the room I see him in the middle of the tank and when he sees me he slowly moves and hides in the cave. This happens even with light on.
