Thank you and I look forward to reading articles by the pros on the site.  I started my first shrimp tank which is actually a tall heavy-leaded glass vase in mid October this year.  So far so good, contains 2 adult Sunkist Shrimp one of which was purchased with babies, she released them 2 days after adding her to the tank.  I used Aquasolum for the substrate and have Anubias, Wisteria and Java Moss along with one Horned Nerite Snail.  I'm sure to have a few questions and really appreciate any advice offered my way.

Thanks Jarad.  The babies are a treat to watch, they travel in packs up and down the water column grazing on the java moss.  Very cool, I think I'm hooked!

Sounds like you're hooked haha, Just be careful with MTS ( Multiple tank syndrome ) as you'll find yourself wanting colonies of different shrimp. I've recently been talking to a few people about feeding your shrimp, What do you currently feed yours ?

When I first established the vase mid October I was putting a fish flake on the substrate every few days.  Then I read some articles about the danger of overfeeding.  Since the babies arrived I've stopped adding anything to the vase.  The 2 adults and 6 babies (what I've seen so far) are constantly grazing on the java moss, the substrate, and fallen Wisteria leaves.  Because it's such a small environment I'm concerned about adding food but what do you think?  The vase is around 1-1/2 gallons.  The shrimp seem to appreciate me leaving the surface buildup alone, I catch them feeding upside down on it.

You don't need to supplement with much food at all, if you only have so few shrimp.

Maybe once a week feed, and drop in only a small pinch.

the shrimp would be getting most of their food from grazing on the glass and moss.

Thanks for your feedback JayC.  That's the approach I've been using so now I'm not so worried about feeding them too much.  Just added a small Marineland Color Enhancing Tropical fish food flake to the substrate.  One of the babies is already munching on it.  If this continues to be successful I'll purchase specific shrimp food for them.

If you've already got shrimplets then you'll have more than a few soon, Its very exciting. I completely agree with @jayc, in your setup the shrimp have plenty.
