Saddles on red cherry shrimp?

Featured Replies

Hi, is this what they call saddled shrimp? I'm kinda new in shrimp keeping and just want to confirm it. Thanks e74928cd8e98f6a0907281fd005cd8be.jpg8f210700e42991413e85e482ce5c5c84.jpg

Yes that looks like a saddled shrimp.

I've circled it in red here ...

Thanks. So how does the breeding cycle work? Saddled-> molt -> berried ?

I've always been a fan of the low grade cherry. There's something beautiful about the wildtype look.
Anyway, don't get too worried if she's not berried soon. Sometimes it takes a while and sometimes the eggs don't take. I've noticed a lot of saddled-> molt-> not saddled, repeat. Or sometimes first time mothers sometimes drop the eggs. But she looks to be a good size/age, so she'll probably hold onto them.
