Please offer an opinion on my first tank.

Featured Replies

I set up a 10gal (37liter) tank with a hamburg matten filter at 45ppi.

I am planning to few Marimo moss balls once the tank is cycled.

I am intending to keep cherry shrimp (Green var. if I can find them) once the filters are established.

The fish will be removed after cycling and before the shrimp are added.

Thank you in advance for any tips and suggestions.

A good start, have some additional greenry to the balls. I'm not experienced with that filter style but is that tank getting enough surface movement?

I'm not sure how much I need honestly. The water seems turbulent at the top and calmer at the bottom. How much surface motion is needed? I was honestly concerned with there being to much current. I was thinking about rerouting the water into a spray bar to soften the current.

All good then, I just couldn't tell from the picture. [emoji3] my cherries like to swim against current at the top, kinda like shrimp surfing. Lol
