Are these safe?

Hi all,

Waned to know if balsa wood and fly screen would be safe in the shrimp tank?

Cheers.

Would you want to risk that @inkevnito? Most balsa wood is imported, which means it is fumigated and treated with insecticides. Flyscreen is cheaply mass produced with cheap stainless and or resin coated. If you need mesh, the least risky option is Marine grade stainless steel that is relatively stable in neutral to alkaline pH. With shrimp being as sensitive as they are, do you really want to risk putting in in the tanks?

I wouldn't trust putting balsa wood into the tank either.

As for flyscreens, there is always the Polyethylene flyscreens, which is plastic. some people have used that before.

Thanks for the response @Keenshrimp!

Not risking anything.. hence the simple question.

Cheers.
