Newbie here about to set up my first shrimp tank.

Hi, just introducing myself!

Have just bought my first shrimp-only tank.

Bought a Dennerle 30L Nano Cube Complete +LED this week, but not set it up yet.

Planning to keep Taiwan Bees, so have bought some active soil and ordered a TDS meter on eBay - though it's coming from Hong Kong, so not due for a few weeks :-(

Have also ordered a 'starter box' from Shrimp Corner UK which has cholla, mineral balls, various leaves, alder cones etc.

Next step is choosing a rock/stone or wood decoration and some plants, so am currently researching inert rock.

Feeling really nervous about starting, but trying to research fully first!

Thats awesome to see another person starting their shrimp journey, I was gonna say i hope you have plans to get a chiller but then i saw your in England which i doubt gets too hot over there anyway lol :P

Hey @TinkyTinks I have kept Tbees and currently have CRS and after reading a lot of articles on this forum I decided to remove rock even inert types and just stick to great pieces of wood. The shrimp seemed to be happier with just wood they were all over it. Noted they weren't on the rocks much anyway. I do have rocks in with my cherries though. Hope this helps, there is a lot of great advice on this forum.

Thanks @zn30. Aesthetically I'd quite like a rock or two! Could I use a fake/plastic rock?! Not sure whether they would affect the tank?

I don't use fake rocks even though they say they are safe I have had them in my fish tanks before and noted they had faded unsure if the fish/catfish have worked on the plastic rock and fake wood taking out the colour, so are they safe I don't know.

Natural is best however as stated before the info on this forum recommends to not use rock with CRS and bees. Maybe a nice piece of mallee root would look similar to a piece of rock I have some however unsure if available in Bristol area. Type in mallee root in Google.
