help with ada soil

Featured Replies

hi all, i picked up 2 tanks today, come with 3 mth old ada soil, im just wondering how long it takes for the soil to buffer down the waters ph? because after filling it its still murky real murky but the water ph is around 7.4 still will it buffer down over time?

I doubt its already expired considering it's only 3 months old so could depend on a few other things:

- What is your water source? Tap, rain, RO?

- What is the pH of the source?

- Is it just the soil in the tank? What else?

Hi tap water ph of 7.6ish from tap. Nothing else in the tank yet. Just tested water this morning and it's the same as last night still 7s.

ADA amazonia will take a while to start reducing the pH. Once the tank starts cycling you will see the pH start dropping.

The murky water is normal with ada. It will eventually clear up.
