Making algae for grazing

How are people doing nothing this?

I've put some little clay pots in a takeaway container filled with tap water and a sprinkle of fish food. Placed in the sun. I've also punched a small hole in the lid.

Have I missed anything? How long before its good for the tank?

Would it have been better to use tank water?

I tried the glass plates in a container as Fishmosy recommended many moons ago. That worked reasonably well but the shrimps favourite treat would be from me keeping several containers with moss in them . I leave them in the window in the laundry where they get morning sun. I leave the moss for about a week then put it into the tanks taking out the old moss to put back into the containers. The shrimp go crazy over it , to keep it neat I tie the moss onto large marine pure balls so it doesn't float all over the tank. The moss balls look decorative and serve a purpose. It might not give you as much algae as you need but it should help.image.jpg

I was scraping the green algae off the side of my tank with brand new razor blade and it always came away in 1 long piece and my shrimp absolutely loved it,.

Me on the other hand trying to get it all out whilst cleaning the tank was not as favorable towards it lol. I did wonder how I would go taking it out and drying it then breaking it up and mixing it in a food
