Green hair algae and excel

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I have one tank that is getting very bad green had algae at the moment have been taking it out with a net and toothbrush. It's growing on the sponge filter too which one orange shrimp seems to pick on not sure if they are eating it or not tho. I have only 3 or 4 shrimp left in the tank that I can see its such a pain. I got seachem flourish and excel but not sure wheather or not they will do anything for it. Any advice would be great thinking about striping the tank and starting it again after cleaning everything. Cheers  Paudie

Hey just saw that I forgot to reply to this and let you know how I got on sorry about that be busy. Kept the lights off for 2 weeks to be sure and covered the tank so no light could get into it. It did die off but is slowly coming back again and seeing it in another tank too thinking the lights might be too close to the tanks. I'm going to get some acrylic so I can move the lights up and see what happens then
