Hello guys and gals from Kent,UK

I have red rilis ,amanos and  a few mixed tiger shrimps.I have 3 tanks.Large one is a planted tanks there are 5-7 rilis and 6 amanos.

2 small shrimp dedicated tanks. One of them is 2 weeks old and having a fishless cycling now.It is 20 litres.I am planning to keep more challenging shrimps like Taiwan bees CRSs. I use  rain water mixed with some little tap water ( it is dame hard and high pH). Altough there is no shrimps in it now but its TDS is 150ish,Kh 0-1,Gh 6,pH is 6.4-6.5.I used Akadama for substrate and there is an undergravel filter with zeolite bags and a small sponge filter.

The other tank is a 30 litres lighlty planted,it is mixed water with rainwater and tap water,TDS 250ish.pH is 7.5 I haven checked GH and KH for this tank but I guess Gh is 10 and Kh is 4.Its substrate is cat litter and pond soil. It is the tank I started to keep shrimps in it first time. My 10 rilis were breeding so well but since last August they have stopped all together... Anyway I will ask this question somewhere more relevant .

Thanks for all your helps in advance

Hi @Daneland

Welcome to SKF.

Your 20L tank sounds like it is on the right track.

However, your 30L tank for rillis is starting to get beyond the comfortable range for neos and rillis.

The reason will be due to the cat litter you used. Depending on what it is made of, it will have things like silica and baking soda in it, which is causing your GH, KH and TDS to rise. I'd start with removing the cat litter.

I have nothing useful to add to your tank question, but wanted to say hi and welcome - I'm in Melbourne Australia but originally from East Sussex :)
