+1 it's about time :-) very happy with my unit and your service.

  • 1 month later...

Hi all and especially hi to @Filter Systems Australia  :-)

I have the basic portable RO/DI unit from FSA and i'm interested to know what are the kind of particles that would slip through the filtration unit as the membranes get older and need replacing.

e.g. What friends would be likely to come from tap water if the RO output reading is 2ppm..4ppm etc.. ?

My limited knowledge of chemistry gives me cause to guess that these would not be the heavier metals or any chlorine-compounds due to these being larger molecules but i'm uncertain.

Very much looking forward to any input on this :-)

Very interested in Wills question as well. Ive had the fsa zero tds unit for around a month and im pretty dissapointed that im getting 20 tds but I do make a couple 100 litres a week and its originally 350 tds water. Just wondering if I should be adding Prime or not before i use equilibrium

I've been using my system for about 3 years. The highest I have allowed the TDS to get is about 12 but generally it sits around 4 - might just be my TDS pen. I have had no problems with my TB when the TDS had gotten to 12 . Generally though I change my filters 6 & 12 monthly as recommended and have just changed the main membrane. I have the small portable unit and make about 100 litres a week and have never used any thing like Prime.

Thats a bummer re tds going up to 20 in one month.. is that 20ppm and not 20millisiemens / conductivity (uS) or whatever they are? In my case I managed 5 months of making about 100 litres per week before tds reached about 12ppm when i changed both the DI resin and the other cheap cartridge. I haven't measured my tapwater for a long time but i think its between 100-200ppm from memory.

Just curious - where are you that has 350ppm? I'm in Adelaide and our water is pretty notorious.

Ps just tested my tap water here and currently its at roughly 200ppm

Hi Will,

Yea its ppm. Im in Goulburn Nsw. Ph 8.0 gh 12 kh 6 out of the tap. I make 216 litres a week. Have started adding Prime to the water just in case theres something bad in the 20 ppm.

An update: Fsa are sending me various new components to try and get to the bottom of the issue. Great customer service from Ian messaging me about the issue after hours on the weekend. The occasional dodgy product happens but great support is priceless
